APTMA demands govt to restore sales tax exemption

LAHORE: All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has
demanded the government to restore sales tax exemption, while Chairman
APTMA Amir Fayyaz Sheikh said that if the local industry was not developed
then only China will benefit the CPEC project, while Pakistan will only be limited
to receive toll tax, Business92 reported.

Moreover, addressing press conference here, Chairman APTMA Amir Fayyaz Sheikh
also said that $500 million export was affected due to recent blockage of roads
caused by recent sit-in, while 30 percent textile industry has shut down due
to government negligence and 4 to 5 million workers have been unemployed.

Amir Fayyaz also said that the export has declined by $5 billion dollars instead of
increase in export of Pakistan. If government will accept their demands then
All Pakistan Textile Mills Association promises to increase export by 10 percent
annually. Furthermore, he also said that Pakistan will benefit CPEC at the time, when
government will focus development of local industries and exports.
