LONDON: British government has forwarded to Metropolitan Police the reference sent by
Pakistani government against Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain after he
delivered an “anti-Pakistan speech” that led to violent protest in Karachi (Karachi News Alert).
The reference against Altaf was sent by interior ministry.
British home ministry’s official condemned the events that occurred on August 22 following the
delivery of anti-Pakistan speech.
The official said that the police would completely examine the evidences submitted by
Pakistan’s interior ministry.
He said that the British government would contact Islamabad if they need more evidences.
The reference contended that Altaf Hussain not only violated Pakistani laws but also British and
international laws on August 22.
The interior ministry, in the reference, urged the British government to take action against all those responsible
for inciting the public to violence and creating a law and order situation in Pakistan.
At least one person was killed and several others injured when MQM workers stormed a media house
following Altaf Hussain’s speech at Karachi Press Club.
