ISLAMABAD: Assistant Foreign Minister of the Peoples Republic
of China, Kong Xuanyou, Monday reiterated China’s continued support
to Pakistan’s sovereignty, independence and territorial
integrity (China Pakistan News).
Acknowledging the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in fighting terrorism
and extremism, he assured China’s full support against these menaces.
During his talks with Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on
Foreign Affairs both sides also expressed satisfaction at the continued expansion
and deepening of bilateral relations.
The adviser also underscored the importance that Pakistan attaches to its relations
with China and underlined the need to hold regular high-level exchanges.
Xuanyou also thanked Pakistan for its consistent and strong support on issues of vital interest to China.
During the bilateral meeting between the Foreign Secretary and the visiting
Chinese dignitary, the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, including
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as well as regional and global issues
of mutual concern came under discussion.

The Foreign Secretary also briefed the Assistant Foreign Minister on the
latest situation in Afghanistan.
He further underscored the imperatives of reaching a sustainable and lasting peace in
Afghanistan through reconciliation and dialogue.
The two sides further agreed that the international community should remain
constructively engaged with Afghanistan especially through the Quadrilateral
Consultative Group (QCG) in support of an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned
