PM Sharif agrees to army’s reservations on Dawn Leaks

Dawn Leaks News

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has succeeded in defusing the
civil-military tension which escalated in the aftermath of government’s action on
Dawn Leaks inquiry report.

The tension grew further after DG ISPR Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor rejected a government’s
notification about the leaks on Twitter.

“Notification on Dawn Leak is incomplete and not in line with recommendations by
the Inquiry Board. Notification is rejected,” Ghafoor tweeted.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar called the tweet as poisonous for democracy.

According to a reliable source, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa
met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif last night and discussed at length the army’s reservations
about the actions ordered by the federal government regarding Dawn Leaks.

The prime minister promised that army’s reservations about the finding of the
report would be taken into consideration.

The meeting, according to the sources, went on for an hour.
