KARACHI: Faisal Edhi, the son of renown philanthropist late Abdul Sattar Edhi and head of the Edhi Foundation, said on Saturday that he had received threats of dire consequences from the suspects who had committed a robbery at an Edhi home in Mithadar and taken over Rs170-180 million and gold ornaments around two years ago.
He said he had received the threats soon after a court hearing of the Edhi home robbery case.
Faisal Edhi said he and his lawyer were walking out of a courtroom in the City Courts after a hearing of the case, when the accused robbers threatened him of dire consequences. “They warned that we [had] not [yet] learnt a lesson from the robbery incident,” Edhi said.
He said he then accompanied his lawyers to the relevant police station and filed a complaint in this regard.
Karachi-South DIG Azad Khan confirmed that Mr Edhi had filed a complaint at the police station. He said Mr Edhi had nominated the people who had threatened him and that the police were looking into his complaint.
On Oct 19, 2014, eight armed men had forced entry into the Edhi home in Mithadar and held the staff hostage at gunpoint. They woke up the late Abdul Sattar Edhi to get the keys to lockers where the cash, gold ornaments and other valuables were kept, and took them away.
