Kupwara army camp attack news
SRINAGAR: At least three Indian troopers were killed on Thursday in freedom fighters’
attack on military camp in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
According to Indian media reports, the attack was carried out in Panzgam village
of frontier Kupwara district, close to Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, about 106 km
northwest of Srinagar city.
Indian officials said two militants were also killed in the attack besides three of Indian soldiers
including an officer.
Heavy gunfire was going on between the two sides and further details are awaited.
Last year, a similar attack on Indian army’s camp in Uri town in the region left 19 troopers
dead and many others wounded.
Following the attack in Uri, the Indian army claimed it carried out “surgical strikes” inside
Pakistan’s Azad Kashmir, which triggered tensions between the two countries.
