Lahore Bedian Road Blast News
LAHORE: At least six people, including four security personnel, were martyred on
Wednesday in a suicide blast in a busy area of Lahore, Business92 reported.
The blast occurred at Bedian Road at around 8:15 am.
Officials initially claimed that the blast caused when gas cylinder of a van exploded; however,
they later said it was a suicide blast that apparently targeted security forces.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said the blast might be a suicide attack; however, investigations are underway.
He claimed that census staff guarded by security forces was target of the bomber.
Rana Sanaullah admitted that the attack occurred amid security high alert in the city.
Three soldiers of Pakistan Army, an official of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and two government officials were martyred, with more than 20 injured.
The bomb disposal squad reached the scene and collected evidences, as security forces cordoned off the area. Body parts were also collected from the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the blast was so powerful that it damaged vehicles and heard far off in localities.
A completely damaged van and motorbike were seen at the site. But it was not clear whether the suicide attacker was riding the bike or the van.
