Doctors call off strike in Lahore after talks successful

Lahore News

LAHORE: Young Doctors Association (YDA) has called off a
five-day protest after successful negotiations with Mayo Hospital‘s Chief
Executive on Saturday, Business92 reported (Lahore News).

Moreover, a child and a cardiac patient also died at Mayo hospital over not receiving
timely treatment as the emergency ward has been locked in the aftermath of doctors’ protest.

On the other hand, Punjab government had formed a four-member
committee to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, the traffic has also been restored at Club Chowk and its adjoining areas.

YDA staged a sit-in five days ago, demanding to restore two doctors and
one nurse of Mayo Hospital. The protest created problems for the locals
due to blockage of roads.

Earlier, local authorities while taking action against the protesters had also
suspended 15 doctors and five nurses whereas 30 nurses were directed to
report to Primary Health Care Department.
