Mardan University reopens amid tight security

MARDAN: Several campuses of Abdul Wali Khan University reopened under tight security on Monday, Business92 reported.

It should be noted that Abdul Wali Khan University was closed for over a month following the lynching of student Mashal Khan on accusations of blasphemy

According to the university’s administration, the campuses in Temar Gara, Chitral and Buner and Pabbi have been reopened whereas Shankar and Garden campuses remain closed.

The Shankar and Garden campuses will be reopened on 25th May.

Section 144 has been enforced in the campus and students are not allowed to hold programs, political gatherings and meetings.

The administration had decided to open the university in different stages.

Security checkposts have been made to ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the educational institute.

It is pertinent to mention that a mob lynched Mashal Khan in Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan over accusations of committing blasphemy on 13th April, 2017.

At least 37 suspects have been arrested by the law enforcement agencies.
