Mashal Khan Case Update
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has announced
that a judicial inquiry will be conducted into the lynching of a journalism
student at Mardan’s Abdul Wali Khan University.
Mashal Khan, 23, was stripped, beaten, thrown from second floor of his
hostel before being shot to death on charges of blasphemy by his fellow
classmates on Friday.
A video clip of the lynching and pictures went viral on social media, leading
to calls for strong action against all those involved in the heinous crime.
“Whatever happened in the Mardan university was totally wrong. I have
directed the Ministry of Education to conduct an impartial inquiry,”
Chief Minister Khattak said.
“I am also in touch with IG Police regarding ongoing probe. A judicial inquiry will be ordered by tomorrow,” he said.
To a question, he said that nothing controversial was found in mobile phone of the victim.
