Politicians felicitates new army chief, CJCSC

ISLAMABAD: Politicians have felicitated Pakistan news army chief
General Qamar Javed Bajwa for his appointment as new army chief
and hoped that the new chief would lead military effectively amid
internal and external challenges.

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Saturday
termed the appointment of General Qamar Javed Bajwa as new Chief
of the Army Staff a ‘good decision’.

“Yes, this is a good decision considering that seniority was taken into
consideration,” Sheikh Rashid also said while talking to a news channel.

“I hope that it will prove to be a good appointment for Pakistan’s war against
terrorism and security of CPEC,” he said.

To a question, he further said that operation Zarb-e-Azb was not going to
end anytime sooner. “It is going to last longer than expected,” he also said, adding
that militants who fled the operation could regroup.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi

Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mahmood Qureshi has
also congratulated new Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa and Chairman Joint Chiefs
of Staff Committee (CJSC) General Zubair Hayat and hoped that the new military
leadership will tackle challenges in an effective way.

“Both the generals have been given important responsibilities at a time when
there are serious security concerns due to Indian aggression along the
Line of Control (LoC),” he further said.

The senior politician also said that two generals were faced many challenges
including security of CPEC, terrorism and Indian aggression.

He also said that situation was also very critical in Afghanistan, where India
was increasing its influence.

“General Qamar Javed Bajwa will prove to be a successful commander
of armed forces,” he also said, adding that General Raheel Sharif had set a
good precedent due to his remarkable achievements.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leader Sherry Rehman has also hoped
that a General like Qamar Javed Bajwa, who has a vast experience of
dealing external challenges and the one who understands the situation
of LoC, would not find combating the challenges.
