RACHI: Sindh Minister for works and services Imdad Pitafi has offered
apology over his unsavoury remarks to Pakistan Muslim League- Functional (PML-F)
female MPA Nusrat Sehar Abbasi during Sindh assembly session on Friday.
He said that Nusrat Sehar Abbasi is like his sister and he was even ready to
offer apology going her home.
However, on the other hand Nusrat Sehar Abbasi refused to accept Imdad Pitafi’s
apology and demanded his resignation.
Earlier, chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari taking
the serious notice of the unethical and unsavoury remarks of Pitafi and directed
the party to issue him show cause notice.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari directed the provincial party president and parliamentary
leader to take action against him and issue show cause notice and take further
action if Pitafi failed to defend his action.
Within minutes after the issuance of Bilawal’s statement, Pitafi said that he had already confessed his mistake and sought pardon on the issue. He further said that he will also say sorry on the floor of the House.
The minister also said that he will respond to the notice, when received, and will accept any decision taken by the party leadership in this regard.
It is pertinent to mentioned that the Sindh Assembly session turned messy on Friday after offensive remarks were made by a PPP minister Imdad Pitafi against a female MPA of PML-Functional Nusrat Seher Abbasi.
The unsavoury episode began when Ms Abbasi put a question to Mr Pitafi, only to receive an invitation to his chamber for what he called “a satisfactory reply”.
If that was not enough, the television cameras caught a UK-educated PPP lawmaker, Nawab Muhammad Taimur Talpur, taunting Ms Abbasi. The remarks made the other ruling party members burst into laughter.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was in the house when this was happening.
