ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said that Pakistan’s democracy is passing through a critical phase, Business92 reported.
He made the statement while addressing National Assembly.
Hussain said that the Parliament is moving towards achievement of its objectives. He added that the political process needs to be freed from individual and group interests.
“The current Parliament will always be remembered in Pakistan’s history,” he said.
He added that certain elements discriminated between the nation.
“It is not unnatural that there is a difference in opinion,” Hussain said.
The president said that everyone should play their role in Pakistan’s development.
“We have to foil all plans devised for making Pakistan’s development a controversial issue”, Hussain said.
The president added that Kashmir issue is the bone of contention between Pakistan and India. “A plebiscite is the only solution to the issue,” he added.
“Pakistan will continue its ethical, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiris,” the president said.
He went on to say that the country wishes to resolve all issues via dialogue.
Hussain added that India did not give a positive reply to Pakistan’s dialogue invitation.
“India continues to carry out state sponsored terrorism in Occupied Kashmir,” he added.
