KARACHI: World Labour Day is being observed today with the renewed pledge to acknowledge and promote the dignity of labourers.
Labour wings across the world including Pakistan will take organize events to highlight the significance of the day.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have said the government is taking measures for the welfare and enhancing living standards of workers and their families.
In their separate messages on Labour Day, they said workforce is an extremely important pillar of society and playing a pivotal role in its socio-economic development.
Mamnoon Hussain said the day symbolizes the strength and character of the Pakistani workforce and its devotion and commitment towards making the country prosperous and developed.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said goals of fast and inclusive growth leading to a modern and industrialized economy can only be achieved through a committed, hardworking and skilled workforce.
Nawaz Sharif said only a prosperous and happy workforce can enable Pakistan in realizing its full potential and compete in today’s highly competitive globalized market economy.
