ISLAMABAD: The government plans to privatize to SME Bank and
would soon divest its major stake, Business92 reported Thursday.
Secretary Privatization Commission, Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera informed
the Senate standing committee on finance, which met under aegis of
Senator Saleem H. Mandviwala, that the government was planning
to privatize the SME bank.
Moreover, chairman of the committee also said that it was a good step by the government
as the bank was in pathetic condition.
Furthermore, Muhammad Zubair, Minister of State for Privatization Commission also
attended the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Senators, Fateh Muhammah Hasani,
Mohsin Aziz, Mohsin Leghari, Kamil Ali Agha, Saood Majeed and Usman Saifullah Khan.
