NEW DELHI: Adding yet another feather in his already full cap star cricketer and captain of Indian team Virat Kolhi has been named Wisden’s Leading Cricketer in the World for 2016.
Kohli amassed 1215 Test runs at an astounding average of 75.93 in 2016. He scored 739 runs in 10 ODIs again at a high average of 92.37 and also bagged 641 runs in T20 Internationals at a staggering average of 106.83.
Only six batsmen have ever scored more international runs in a calendar year than Kohli but none of them have come close to the Indian captain’s average.
His run-cracking bat has already helped Kohli won the prestigious ‘Polly Umrigar award’ presented to the ’International Cricketer of the Year’ at the BCCI Annual Awards. He has already been declared Wisden India Almanack’s Cricketer of the Year for the second time in its 2017 edition.
