KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to give another
chance to fast bowler Muhammed Irfan over spot-fixing scandal in
Pakistan Super League (PSL) that recently came to conclusion in Lahore final.
It should be mentioned here that earlier Irfan’s teammates in Islamabad United—Sharjeel Khan
and Khalid Latif—were barred from playing cricket after they were found involved in the scandal.
Irfan was still under suspicion a day after the duo was sent home from Dubai,
when PSL Chairman Najam Sethi gave him go-ahead to play the league in Dubai.
In the meantime, the PCB’s anti-corruption unit (ACU) continued its investigations.
The game critics said if the bowler was under suspicion, why he was treated differently from Sharjeel and Latif.
The video interviews of the fast bowler have also been made part of the record of investigations. The ACU is still probing the phone calls as Irfan has been charged with meeting the bookies.
