PESHAWAR: The death toll of the blast in the Noor market in Parachinar rose to 24 people, as two critically injured died during treatment.

Over 80 injured people are being treated in the local hospital and the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshwar.

Ikramullah Khan, the local political agent, confirmed the death toll of the blast that took place this morning in the crowded Noor market.

As per initial information, the explosive materials was planted in the car and it was detonated through remote-control device. The intensity of the blast was so powerful that its damaged nearby shops and houses. Many shops were completely destroyed in the blast.

The marketplace is a busy area and has several shops. Firing was also reported in the area before the blast occurred.

The political administration has declared emergency at all hospitals in the area. An Army medical evacuation helicopter has shifted the critical injured to Peshawar.
